“Record stores can’t save your life, but they can give you a better one.”

—Nick Hornby

RSD, better known as Record Store Day is basically a day in which vinyl records are celebrated. In other words, it’s like the San Francisco Comic Con, but for Vinyl Records. As we all know, vinyl has been around for quite some time. Their popularity peaked around the 80s and began to dwindle in the early 90s, thanks to the invention of CDs.

Many thought that CDs would be the end of vinyl records.

Little did they know, vinyl would not only survive, but it would come back quite strong and overtake CDs! Even in today’s digital age where anyone can just stream and download music at will, Record Stores can’t seem to keep the popular titles on their shelves for long.

There are even some that swear nothing sounds better than vinyl!

Now for the past two years or so, I, like many others, have been bitten by the record bug and began my collection. I must admit, it does have a sense of nostalgia every time I pop a vinyl into my record player. It definitely brings back memories… I find them very soothing and relaxing.

I always listen to my records when I’m writing a new post.

This year, my curiosity has led me to discover RSD and have even made my first “RSD exclusive” purchases—I did not realize how big this event was! Even today in the COVID era, it is still very popular and many stores have had to figure out ways to keep crowds safe and at bay. A friend of mine who is a huge RSD fan, waited in line since 4am so he could make sure he got the records he wanted!

These are my first two RSD exclusives!

How about you? Do you happen to have any vinyl records in your collection of goodies? If so, do you agree in that they sound better than anything digital? Or is it just a nostalgia thing like me? Always happy to hear your thoughts!

As always, thank you for stopping by. Your time is precious and I appreciate you spending it here. If you haven’t already, make sure you don’t miss any new posts by signing up below. Take care of yourselves and see you back here in two weeks!
