Heart to Heart

“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”

—Paulo Coelho

It’s funny how things always just work out. I’ve been so busy working on some photography projects that as of this morning, I did not have a topic to write about.

As I was walking out the door on my way to work, I happened to glance at our curious little heart decorations that are hanging by our door. They are sort of our little “thank you for coming to see us, go with our love, and come back soon”, unspoken wishes for those parting from our home.

As the day went I kept thinking about them, and then it clicked, “Hey! Since Valentine’s is coming up, why not talk about some of those little hearts found around our home?”—I did not realize how many we actually have… LOL!

Let’s start at the front door shall we? One thing we like to have is a wreath that goes with the current holiday/event. With Valentine’s just around the corner, of course we have to have a heart-shape wreath hanging on it.

Once inside, as I mentioned earlier, right by the door we have some heart decorations. The most decorative one is our Milagro Sacred Heart with Wings. In Mexican culture, these are quite popular and each are very unique since they never have the same Milagros on them—translated as Miracles, they are small charms nailed to the heart, each representing a prayer or wish.

Further inside, if you sit at our dinner table to enjoy a nourishing meal, you will be greeted by our centerpiece. A wooden heart with the words: Love is patient, love is kind, love never fails painted on it. This may be a bit silly but I like having this heart inside a bowl. This to us represents how Love is also needed to feed our bodies and souls for better and healthier living.

Moving further inside, on top of my nightstand lives a small and beautifully decorated little wooden blue heart. Perhaps you might recognize it from my Precious Dia de los Muertos post. I used it in the photo with our cake topper. This small treasure was a gift from my wife. She got it for me during a trip to San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico.

And last but not least, not to be outdone, right over my wife’s nightstand hangs a handmade 3D frame with multiple hearts. This beautiful frame was actually a custom hand-made paper design by an amazing local artist, Aza Gonzalez. He also has a Facebook store called Tilika Store. So please take a look at his art, he really does some amazing work!

Anyway, this super intricate frame is based on a cookie box I had made at the time I proposed to my wife. Of course, the ring was inside, so she had to tear it up to get to it! It was fun and frustrating at the same time, but that’s a whole different post! Haha!

As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by. Do you have any cool and neat heart-shape things you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below. May you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day full of joy and laughter.
